BBC One star calls on youth to prove their worth

BBC One’s Waterloo Road star, Shabana Bakhsh is backing the Agents4Changecampaign to encourage more young people to use their passions and energy to make a difference in their communities.

Shabana, who plays newly qualified teacher Jasmine Koreshi in Waterloo Road, says: “I love to volunteer between filming, giving talks in schools, helping out in charity shops and even running marathons.

“Agents4Change shows that young people are not all trouble-makers and they do have the ability and drive to take positive action in their communities. I am passionate about young people reaching their full potential and volunteering is the perfect way to gain essential skills to improve career prospects while at the same time helping others.”

Agents4Change is a project coordinated by volunteering charity CSV with support from Tesco and youth volunteering charity v. It aims to empower people aged between 16 and 25 to get involved in community projects.

Full-time volunteers working in 20 different locations across the country are attracting young people to take part in events including football tournaments for the homeless, sexual awareness fashion shows or even local youth centre make-overs.
