Agents4Change take on the paper giants!

Agents4Change take on the paper giants!

Articles in two national newspapers describing today's youth have spurned two Agents4Change into action!

Vicky Powers, 21, our Agent in Sheffield (pictured right), felt so strongly about references to “Violent Thugs”, and “Terrorising Yobs” in an article in The Sun (‘Nail the Thugs’, Mon 21 Jan) that she wrote a letter to the newspaper and had her response published.

She wrote, “I am a full-time volunteer with Agents4Change, a project that is recruiting thousands of young people to volunteer and help others in their community. Far from being a menace to society our project shows that many young people are just waiting to be offered something positive to do to keep them off the streets”.

“As a young person myself, I think that tarnishing all young teenagers with the same brush and creating labels such as ‘thugs’ and ‘yobs’ is only going to make more young people feel that they are a lost cause”.

Kitty Stewart, also 21, (Agent in Swindon), also got a letter published when she responded to The Daily Mirror’s idea that we can reclaim our streets by focusing on improving opportunities for Britain’s youth (‘Reclaim our Streets’, Tues 29 Jan).

“I am a volunteer with Agents4Change, a project recruiting thousands of young people across the country to help others in their communities. From my own experience, offering young people interesting projects is the best way to keep them from getting up to no good”.

“Young people are not the lost cause many fear and are just waiting for the opportunity to show their potential”.
