The Little Knit project is no woolly plan!

Young people from around Greater Manchester are joining lots of celebrities by adopting knitting as a new hobby.

The Little Knit project, organised by Agent4Change Rebecca Salari, has recruited a team of young people to knit garments for the neo-natal department at Stepping Hill hospital. Premature babies are in need of garments, particularly blankets and cardigans this Easter and Stepping Hill Hospital is eager to receive as many donations from people as possible. The volunteers, some more advanced than others will have a month to knit as many garments as possible.

Sirdar, one of Yorkshire’s largest yarn manufacturers has kindly donated wool for the event and Innocent Smoothies will be providing free vouchers to all volunteers.

Phoebe Bois who is volunteering at the event and also organises her own knitting group hopes the project will continue, "If the event is successful I would like to form a weekly knitting group with volunteers from Little Knit and other knitters so that we can continue to provide Stepping Hill Hospital with much needed baby garments."

Rebecca also hopes to replicate the project at universities such as Manchester and Salford.
