Students Stage Trash Fashion Show
Environmentally minded students are creating recycling-inspired garments for a unique fashion show to celebrate Recycle Week 2008.
The Recycled Beats fashion show and club night is taking place on Friday June 6th between 9pm and 2am, at The Cube on Sussex University campus. Hosted by the Environmental Society and aided by the Agents4Change campaign, it kicks off the beginning of the 'Climate Change and the Student Movement' conference that begins that weekend.
The students will be making clothes from spare material, unconventional resources and discarded household goods. Student Anna Stephenson-Boyles, for instance, plans to make a 60's style crochet dress with paper doyleys.
Agents4Change, Tom Lennard says: "This is an entertaining way of getting young people to engage with important environmental issues. Recycling is regular activity for many Sussex students."
