Cornish youngsters help save local wildlife

Between 31 August 2007 and 31 August 2007, in Truro

Cornish youngsters help save local wildlife In Swanpool Wildlife Reserve, Cornwall, young people gathered in force to help save the wildlife of the area from choking and being poisoned by huge amounts of litter.

The streams were clogged with bottles and covered in a thick layer of muck and the hedges were full of rubbish. Car tyres, spare parts and mattresses topped the list of shocking finds, as well as dog mess in plastic bags thrown into a hedge.

Seventeen year-old Daniel Hargreaves, Agent4Change for Cornwall says: "It was disgusting how much litter there was. But once I started I really felt like I was giving something back to the environment and the wildlife that live near the reserve. The change we made to that location was great."
