Churchdown sports centre gets freshened up!
Between 01 February 2008 and 01 February 2008, in Truro
Agents4Change volunteers spared some time in February by going down to Churchdown School’s Sports Centre, where they got painting to improve its reception area.
The area now looks much better thanks to volunteer efforts and the school is very pleased with the result!
Volunteer Hannah said 'I’m so glad Agents4Change got in touch with me as it has given me the opportunity to give some of my time to a worthwhile project.
'I reckon lots of young people would [volunteer], its just that they need to be approached and told that there are things like this going on in their community.'

Great North West Beach Clean
Between 01 February 2008 and 01 February 2008, in Truro
On Friday 29th February 2008 Agent4Change Rebecca Salari and volunteers from Manchester Metropolitan University took part in the Great North West Beach Clean for student volunteering week.
The beach clean, which took place at one of the north’s seven wonders, Morecambe Bay turned out to be a really successful day with over 30 rubbish bags being collected by MMU students alone!
The beach clean lasted over an hour as students from all over the north separated into groups of three and took turns to carry bags, pick up litter, and survey collections. Once the clean had been completed volunteers were driven to a local college where they enjoyed jacket potatoes and muffins after all their hard work!
Susannah Bleakley from the Morecambe Bay Partnership welcomes everyone willing to help with preserving the bay: “We are always thrilled to have volunteers who want get involved with our regular beach cleans", she says. "Since June 2003, 2600 people have taken part in 167 events, mainly, but not exclusively, beach cleans. We have removed over 19.6 tonnes of waste from beaches and more than 4000 items have been recycled”.
