Young Agents show silver surfers the way

Two 19-year-oldsĀ from Coventry shared their techie know-how with older people at a Silver Surfers event in the area.
Irfaan Hussain and Mohammed Adnan showed older people about browsers, emails and the wonders of online shopping. Some already had access to computers but didn't feel they could use them. The session helped them realise the benefits and how to get started.
Irfaan said of his volunteering: 'I got to help a person use a computer and it feels like I have made a change in someone's life. Thank you for this opportunity.'

Sweating it out for Breast Cancer
Between 15 May 2008 and 15 May 2008, in Luton
An aerobics event at the Luton Irish Forum was held in May to raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer.
The 45-minute session was led by an experienced instructor and all money raised was sent to leading UK breast cancer charity Breast Cancer Care.
Sarah Collins, Agent4Change who managed the event, said: 'The event was a fantastic way to meet new people in the community, raise awareness of a good cause and have fun. '

Dress down for charity

Children with special needs were given a boost in May through money collected from a Dress Down Day, organised by Agent4Change Sarah Collins.
Workers at businesses in Luton were asked to swap their work gear for comfy casuals to support the Luton respite centre run by Friends of Bright Eyes (FOBE).

A delight for the senses

Young volunteers helped to clear a garden for elderly patients in a care centre in Tenterden.
Twenty young people from Homewood School turned up in May to show off their green-fingered skills at Tenterden's West View care centre.
Gordon Shepherd of Shaw Healthcare which runs the home said: 'This garden is really important for people with dementia, who can often spend a lot of time indoors. Being outside keeps their senses active and gives them some freedom.'
