Come along for a day of bramble bashing, bird box building and general energetic fun. I went to this spot a few weeks back and the event is set to be great fun.
It should be really rewarding to see how you can improve this spot in just a few hours. And of course you've got Camden close by for a bit of shopping and drinking afterwards.

Fairtrade Fortnight
Between 23 February 2009 and 09 March 2009, in Manchester
All Saints Park on Oxford Road was the site for this unique event on a sunny Friday in March. Volunteers arrived to set up the gazebo's, add some yellow inflatable décor and most of all, to draw in the crowds! Several volunteers dressed in very fetching banana suits, while others, like myself, opted for yellow t-shirts!
One o'clock was the proposed kick off time, but we had a queue of inquisitive students, passers-by, staff and school children waiting before time! As crates of bananas arrived, we set up our official counter and record board, which was updated every 15 minutes. With a great big countdown, the banana madness began, with huge numbers of people partaking in a national world record banana eating day!
No one was allowed to walk through the gazebo stretch without being told about fairtrade and our mission for the afternoon! One volunteer managed to get hold of a megaphone to ensure all of Manchester knew what was happening in the park that day!
In just over an hour, we managed to give away 80 pieces of banana cake (well, lets be honest, that went in about thirty seconds) and a grand total of 1,274 Fairtrade bananas!
A big round of applause to everyone who showed their support for Fairtrade that day - please keep it up! Also big thanks to MMU and the People & Planet society who put lots of effort in to make it all happen!

North West Conservation Day at Beacon Park
Between 03 February 2009 and 28 February 2009, in Liverpool
| Beacon Park in Skelmersdale is a huge country park with a rich and varied habitat of flora and fauna. Volunteers from all over the North West Universities pulled togther to work as the park rangers asked. They came from Liverpool, Manchester, Preston, Cumria, and Humberside to renew the parks wildlife. |
| Description | |
| Volunteers spent 3 and a half hours with bow saws and cutters, to remove dying hazel trees from a section of woodland. With different aninmals wanting different levels of growth it was important for the sustainable qualities of the forest! |
| Partner Organisations | |
| Ta to all the North West Unis, and the Beacon Park Rangers. Big thank you to WiSCV of course! |
| Problems/challenges: | |
| The lunch queue was massive! Next time we need to order in even more of that delicious chicken curry. |
| Interesting anecdotes/quotes: | |
| "PUT DOWN YOUR TEA AND LETS GET CHOPPING!", said Jess from Humberside. Whereas our own Keith, from Liverpool Community College said, "This is the perfect way to get over my girlfriend dumping me. Hacking away at bits of dead wood in the fresh air is perfect!" |
| Hopefully, next time to Rangers need something doing to save the environment, or Keith has another bad relationship, we'll be back. |

Working with Big issue vendors from around Liverpool, we aim to develop this good site into a crop growing, vegetable busting, environment sustaining habitat, complete with wind turbine, and potting shed.
We are looking for budding, green-fingered volunteers to work with us EVERY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON (12-4) to implement all our plans for this site. We are encouraging volunteers big and small, experienced or not, to work with vendors, and develop skills in leadership, commitment, teamwork and green issues.

Park Ranger for the Day
Between 30 January 2009 and 25 February 2009, in Liverpool
Be a Sefton Park Ranger for the day! Agents4Change teamed up with Sefton Rangers for an afternoon of tree cropping and litter picking. A beautiful area of land at St Christopher's Wood, Netherton, wasn't looking its best, but Agents4Change were part of doing something about it!
Loads of volunteers turned up to collect on of the hugest amounts of rubbish you've ever seen.
